| SOLOMAN LED THE INDUSTRIAL BID FOCUS AT TOP LONDON CONFERENCE
SOLOMAN was selected to develop discussions on industrial BIDS at a top conference to celebrate the success of London business improvement districts. SOLOMAN Director, Ian Andrews, led a panel discussion on industrial area BIDs and SOLOMAN’s experience of managing three successful South London BIDs. Ian’s panel included business leader David Guyan, local authority senior manager Daniel Ratchford, and SOLOMAN estates supporter, David Forty.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson topped the list of Conference speakers and explained priorities and their relevance to London BIDs. Policy Director for Economic Development at the Greater London Authority, Anthony Browne, spoke further about the opportunities that BIDs offered for business growth and regeneration. Together Boris Johnson and Anthony Browne set the scene for the event’s special focus on BIDs in industrial areas and BID renewals in retail areas.
Convened by the London Development Agency, the Celebrating BIDs in London Conference was held
at City Hall, alongside Tower Bridge, on Friday 23 October. Discussions revealed the value of local authorities working with business groups ahead of preparing BID proposals. The benefits included greater understanding between councils and business groups as well as a more effective engagement of business in local economic development.
A full report of the Conference is now available on the London BIDS website.
